Shopfitting and interior display specialists The Alan Nuttall Partnership Ltd have successfully completed several projects within Heathrow Airport’s £2.5bn redevelopment of Terminal 2.
The new Terminal 2 has been named ‘The Queen’s Terminal’ and will be honoured with an official Royal opening by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 23 June.
Terminal 2 provides an extensive retail experience featuring 33 shops and 17 food & beverage outlets and Nuttalls have delivered eight projects across the site, including the main World Duty Free area within Departures.
World Duty Free is one of the world’s leading travel retailers, offering beauty products, liquor and fashion accessories, choosing Nuttalls as Principal Contractor to create the extensive retail space. The project features specially designed wave ceilings which had to be manufactured on-site, as well as an eye-catching World of Whiskies area, taking 44 weeks and 120 operatives to complete.
Nuttalls have been praised for their stringent health and safety practices by Heathrow Airport Ltd, having received several Site Safety Awards during the construction programme.
Simon Frith, Nuttalls’ Operation Director, said:
Working within an operating airport comes with its own unique challenges, especially when it’s the size of Heathrow, with 4000 operatives and contractors on site and so many live projects running at the same time.
We have already secured further works at Heathrow within Terminal 5 on the success of the projects we have completed at T2 and are immensely proud to play a part in Heathrow’s redevelopment programme.
The company has vast experience within airport development, both airside and landside, having delivered over 100 airport-based projects, including Heathrow, Birmingham International, Manchester, East Midlands, Dublin City and Jersey.
Already recognised as one of the UK’s leading shopfitters, The Alan Nuttall Partnership Ltd specialises in interior fit-out, main and principal contracting, retail display design, manufacture and installation of fixtures, signage, foodservice and refrigeration equipment for retail, commercial, hospitality, leisure, foodservice and the public sector.
