Midlands based shopfitting and interior display manufacturer Alan Nuttall Limited has become an employee owned partnership under new legislation brought in by the Government last year.
All employees are now Partners, with an Employee Ownership Trust holding the majority of shares in the business.
Chairman Alan Nuttall started the business in 1966 with just £137, which has grown and evolved to become one of the UK’s largest, most successful, privately owned shopfitting companies, with numerous product innovation and interiors awards under its belt.
Alan Nuttall said:
I am delighted to realise my vision for the business. I was inspired by the John Lewis model and saw this as an opportunity to protect the future of the company by providing long-term, secure ownership.
Nino Calandra, Managing Director, added:
This is a very exciting time for our business. We believe that giving all our employers a meaningful stake encourages accountability and engagement, with greater rewards as every Partner will receive a share of the profits
Nuttalls employs 600 staff including designers, skilled joiners, sheet metal engineers, project managers and product designers, within one million square feet of production and logistics space.
The company’s wide ranging client portfolio includes top brands located in High Streets, shopping centres and airports, across the UK and worldwide.
According to the Employee Ownership Association, the number of employee owned businesses is growing at an annual rate of just under 10%, with manufacturing businesses forming the second largest group.
Already recognised as one of the UK’s leading shopfitters, The Alan Nuttall Partnership Ltd specialises in interior fit-out, main and principal contracting, retail display design, manufacture and installation of fixtures, signage, foodservice and refrigeration equipment for retail, commercial, hospitality, leisure, foodservice and the public sector.
